Nearly 18 years in the BPO industry laid a solid foundation, where I mastered managing high call volumes with genuine compassion while maintaining an unwavering focus on customer satisfaction and quality. Complementing this, I pursued formal studies in advertising and briefly explored music, but it was those rigorous call center years that truly sharpened my resilience.
After enduring years of repetitive and stagnant tasks in the call center world, transitioning into the virtual assistant industry allowed me to fully engage my intellect. I consider myself a late bloomer, continuously embracing challenges that stimulate my growth and drive.
Moving from BPO to virtual assistance was a decisive turning point. Weary of the daily grind, long commutes, and taxing traffic on my motorcycle, I seized an admin role at a startup, letting loyalty and grit propel me beyond technical experience. This steadfast dedication opened doors to expanded opportunities.
As my role evolved, I took on more responsibility, advancing from a call handler to a crucial decision-maker within the company. Managing client SharePoints, proposals, invoicing, and CRMs became customary, accompanied by ongoing professional development through Google Ads and WordPress training. Transitioning from task execution to strategic leadership was both demanding and exhilarating.
What defines my approach is a street-smart, observant mindset. I recall designing email auto-responses grounded in authentic customer behavior rather than generic templates. This practical intuition distinguishes my work. Initially, I was hesitant to co-write content, feeling it demanded a level of articulation beyond my comfort zone. However, I quickly realised that authentic connection and clear communication hold greater value than flawless prose.
This journey has fostered genuine connections with clients. Where feedback once was simple—“Opdee helped me a lot, great work”— reflects specific praise for the proactive support Derek and I provide, alongside consistent updates. That trust is a powerful motivator.
Trust, discretion, and adaptability stand as pillars of my professional ethic. My boss once remarked that stepping into this role finally allowed my brain to stretch. I stay plugged in but act as a vault, safeguarding sensitive information while empowering the team. Modifying my communication approach based on each audience’s needs is essential, everyone deserves to be heard and understood.
Daily, I drive Opdee’s operations forward by meeting deadlines, facilitating transparent communication, and cultivating a positive, collaborative environment. I work closely with Olwyn, our head content writer and accountant, to uphold high content quality and client satisfaction. Our commitment shines through in the outstanding reviews we continue to earn.
My focus remains the same: to sustain growth through structure, collaboration, and strategic foresight. The journey is ongoing, but the vision is clear: to expand Opdee’s impact while preserving the authenticity and operational excellence that define who we are.
