What Does a Website Cost?
You want a straight answer. We respect that.
Website pricing varies. That is not a dodge. It is the reality. A five page site for a local tradie costs less than a 200 page site for a national service provider. Different goals, different builds, different prices.
This page explains how we price websites, what affects the cost, and what you can expect at each level. No hidden fees. No surprises in the invoice.
Our websites typically range from $3,000 to $20,000+ AUD for small to medium size businesses, with an expected increase for corporate web design and build outs depending on scope. Read on to learn what increases or decreases costs and understand the pricing.
Why Some Providers Are Cheaper
You will find website quotes ranging from $500 to $50,000. The difference comes down to what you are actually buying. There are three types of providers in this market. Understanding the difference helps you compare quotes accurately.
Website Designers
Focus: Visual layout and templates
Website designers create attractive pages. They work with templates, adjust colours and fonts, add images, and arrange content. The result should look professional.
What they typically do not do is SEO structure, conversion optimisation, site speed, security hardening, semantic markup, or ongoing maintenance. They build nice looking brochure sites at best.
This tier includes vibe coded websites – AI generated sites with minimal customisation. Quick to build. Quick to fade.
Typical price range: $500 to $2,000
Website Builders
Focus: Functionality and structure
Website builders understand more than simple web design. They consider semantic structure, user experience, page layout, and basic functionality. They can build contact forms, integrate simple tools, and create logical navigation.
What they typically do not do is deep SEO optimisation, conversion architecture, speed optimisation for sub-second load times, security protocols, or performance monitoring. They build functional sites but may not understand what makes a site generate business.
Typical price range: $2,000 to $5,000
Digital Business Builders
Focus: Business outcomes – This is what Opdee does
We build websites as business assets. Every decision serves lead generation, conversion, and long-term growth.
Our sites include conversion optimisation, semantic structure, SEO architecture, sub-second load times, security hardening, performance monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. Your website works for you 24 hours a day.
Every site we build scores an A rating for performance and structure. We know these metrics are foundational for SEO and conversion.
Typical price range: $7,500 to $20,000+
Red Flags When Comparing Quotes
When reviewing proposals, watch for these gaps. A lower quote is not always a better deal. It often means less work, less strategy, and less result.
- No mention of SEO or search visibility
- No discussion of site speed or performance
- No maintenance or security plan
- No analytics setup included
- Template only options with no customisation
- No discovery process or strategy discussion
- Vague scope with no clear deliverables
Website Tiers Opdee Builds
We build websites at different levels depending on what you need. Here is what each tier involves.
Brochure Sites
From $1,500
Temporary holding pages that are not built to last. These suit commercial properties for lease, short term listings, placeholder sites, or anything with a defined end date. They are not optimised for SEO, paid traffic, or conversions.
Good for businesses that do not need a website bringing them business – something to drive traffic to for closing a sale, adding credibility, or providing basic information.
Even at this level, we build to A rating standards for performance and structure. We rarely recommend brochure sites for ongoing businesses.
Basic Service Sites
From $3,500
Typical timeline: 4 to 6 weeks
Your foot in the door and a starting point.
Built for solopreneurs, small local businesses, and local service providers who need an online presence. These sites showcase a limited set of services, include a contact page, and target local traffic. This site will provide a solid foundation with room to grow.
Many clients start here and expand as their business grows.
Competitive Service Sites
From $7,500
Typical timeline: 6 to 10 weeks
Built to compete. Built to convert. This is where Digital Business Builder work begins.
Instead of one page saying “we provide electrical services,” you get dedicated pages for downlights, LED installation, outdoor lighting, testing and tagging, solar retrofits, EV charger installation. Each service has its own page. Each page attracts and qualifies its own customers.
These sites include trust indicators, social proof, reviews, and structured content that performs in search. They are designed for businesses ready to compete seriously in their market.
Typically 10 to 15 pages. Larger sites with more pages scale up accordingly.
Enterprise Sites
From $15,000
Typical timeline: 3 to 5 months
Corporate Partner level positioning with high production value.
Enterprise sites are not about showcasing services. They position your business as a long-term partner. The tone shifts from “we do this work” to “we are the partner you make a decision on for the long haul.”
These sites feature extensive social proof, testimonials, client logos, case studies, and professional design that signals longevity and credibility. Visitors often need internal buy-in before choosing a provider. These sites give them what they need to make that case.
Enterprise sites typically include CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot, Asana, Monday), custom forms, and tailored functionality.

Redesigns and Facelifts
Not every project starts from scratch. Many clients come to us with existing sites that need work or a substantial upgrade.
Basic Facelifts
From $1,500
Visual refresh may include an updated design, but not a full rebuild, and tightened or improved copy. This works for sites without significant SEO ranking to protect.
SEO Preserving Redesigns
$10,000 to $15,000+
Surgical precision is where things get complex.
If your site has strong search rankings, a careless redesign can destroy them. Google may treat a restructured site as brand new and sandbox it. Internal linking, page structure, and content relationships all need careful handling.
We approach these projects in stages. First pass: tighten structure, preserve content. Let Google re-index. Second pass: update content, refine design. Let it settle. Each stage allows Google to recognise the site as the same entity, evolving naturally.
Under 100 pages: 2 phases | 100-500 pages: 2-3 phases | 500+ pages: 3+ phases. Each 200 pages adds roughly a month to the timeline.
What Affects the Price
Several factors push the price up or down. Here is what to expect.
Things That Increase Cost
- Page count and complexity. More pages, more work. Complex pages with custom functionality cost more than simple content pages.
- No existing brand assets. If you do not have a logo, they start at $700 and can reach $1,500+ depending on complexity.
- No brand guide. Brand guides (including UI, voice, tone, and physical media templates) start at $2,500. Highly recommended before starting a website project.
- Custom integrations. CRM connections, payment gateways, booking systems, membership portals. Each adds $200 to $1,000+ depending on complexity.
- SEO preservation requirements. Existing rankings that need protecting add time and complexity.
- Unclear direction. When you are unsure what you want, we spend more time exploring options. That adds to the project.
Things That Decrease Cost
- Analytics history. Access to Google Analytics and Google Search Console gives us direction. We see what is working and what is not.
- Design references. Show us 3 to 5 websites you like. Less guessing, more building.
- Existing logo and brand guide. We can start building immediately.
- Clear conversion goals. Knowing what success looks like helps us design toward it.
- Existing content. Copy, images, testimonials, case studies. The more you bring, the less we need to create.
What to Bring to Your Project
The more prepared you are, the smoother (and more affordable) your project will be.
- Logo files (vector format preferred)
- Brand guide if you have one
- 3 to 5 websites you like (for design reference)
- Google Analytics access
- Google Search Console access
- Existing website login (if redesigning)
- Written content, testimonials, case studies
- Professional photos (team, products, workspace)
- List of services or products to feature
- Conversion goals (what should visitors do?)
How We Invoice
Our standard payment structure:
50%
Upfront secures your project and starts the work
25%
At feedback stage when you review and provide input
25%

For staged projects (SEO preserving redesigns), we invoice per phase. Each phase follows the same structure.
